{"id":3945,"date":"2021-04-02T06:30:47","date_gmt":"2021-04-02T06:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/sk-hynix-recognizes-world-autism-awareness-day\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T15:01:28","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T06:01:28","slug":"sk-hynix-recognizes-world-autism-awareness-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.skhynix.com\/en\/sk-hynix-recognizes-world-autism-awareness-day\/","title":{"rendered":"SK hynix Recognizes World Autism Awareness Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every April, the world comes together to recognize Autism Awareness Day, taking an opportunity to celebrate the autistic community and educate around their unique talents and challenges.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \uc774\ubbf8\uc9c0 \uc0ac\uc774\uc988 \uc9c0\uc815\ud574\uc11c \uc5c5\ub85c\ub4dc --><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4330\" src=\"https:\/\/d18r0a86za96sg.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/27184823\/World_Autism_Day.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to <a class=\"-as-ga\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autismspeaks.org\/what-autism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-category=\"sk-hynix-newsroom\" data-ga-action=\"click\" data-ga-label=\"goto_https:\/\/www.autismspeaks.org\/what-autism\">Autism Speaks<\/a>, an advocacy organization, autism (also called autism spectrum disorder or ASD), refers to \u201ca broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.\u201d This spectrum of ability \u2013 which can range from highly skilled to severely challenged \u2014 makes each person\u2019s experience with autism unique. There is no \u201cone\u201d autism, but rather many distinct types of autism.<\/p>\n<p>At SK hynix, we know that the technology we make \u2014 and the people we employ \u2013 have the power to improve lives, advance societies and transform industries. It\u2019s also why we work with social good organizations like <a class=\"-as-ga\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.autistar.kr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-category=\"sk-hynix-newsroom\" data-ga-action=\"click\" data-ga-label=\"goto_http:\/\/www.autistar.kr\/\">Autistar<\/a> to make a positive impact on the lives of people around the world.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 16px; line-height: 16px;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div style=\"display: inline-block; max-width: 748px; width: 100%; text-align: left;\">\n<div style=\"height: 2px; background: #666666; margin-bottom: 6px;\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"sub-title\" style=\"margin: 0; line-height: 1.4;\">The Autistar Exhibition<\/h3>\n<div style=\"height: 2px; background: #666666; margin-top: 6px;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Founded in 2012 by Professor So-Hyun Lee of the Department of Special Education at Ewha Womans University, Autistar is a Korean company that trains and supports people with autism to work as designers in our society. Today, the company has 12 full-time designers with autism \u2013 and all Autistar products are created with drawings of designers with autism and trainees.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, SK hynix worked with Autistar to create an open exhibition at our head campus, purchasing 80 design frames made by designers with autism and decorating the walls of our underground sidewalks. We also invited the Autistar team to visit the SK hynix campus, where they could present their work and speak with engineers and employees.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 16px; line-height: 16px;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div style=\"display: inline-block; max-width: 748px; width: 100%; text-align: left;\">\n<div style=\"height: 2px; background: #666666; margin-bottom: 6px;\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"sub-title\" style=\"margin: 0; line-height: 1.4;\">Hearing from Our Partners at Autistar<\/h3>\n<div style=\"height: 2px; background: #666666; margin-top: 6px;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hyesung Park, Executive Director of Autistar<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about your work at Autistar.<\/strong> \u201cI work with designers with autism \u2013 and every day, I admire the incredible pictures they\u2019ve drawn. People with autism are clearly different from other people, but they work with us and in the company, and they live together in our society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was meaningful about working with SK hynix?<\/strong> \u201cOf course, it\u2019s nice to sell a lot of products to increase sales, but when I work with people from other companies, I feel a lot of joy when I feel that they respect each and every Autistar designer. And for designers who find the workspace too bright, we provide an environment with a lowered light level. In the case of those who struggle with speaking, we\u2019ll work with them to demonstrate straightforward sentences, and give them a chance to speak again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s happening on April 2?<\/strong> \u201cEvery year on World Autism Awareness Day, the \u2018Light It Up Blue\u2019 campaign is held to illuminate the blue light that symbolizes interest and understanding of people with autism. On the evening of April 2nd, you can see the Seoul N Tower shining in blue. It is good to see that lighting this blue light gives us an opportunity to recognize that people with autism are living together in our society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does Autistar do for World Autism Awareness Day?<\/strong> \u201cEach year, Autistar publishes a poster designed by a designer with autism on the theme of blue on the company\u2019s social media. It is a great autism-friendly event for people with autism to work as designers with their abilities and to show our society a beautiful picture and a design with a valuable message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What kind of collaborations do you want to do with SK hynix in the future?<\/strong> \u201cI would like to do a variety of work so that Autistar Design can be located in various places in SK hynix. I hope that Autistar\u2019s artwork will be included in everyday items like a uniquely designed picture frame in an empty corridor, a mug on your desk, and a gift to give a visitor.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 16px; line-height: 16px;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div style=\"display: inline-block; max-width: 748px; width: 100%; text-align: left;\">\n<div style=\"height: 2px; background: #666666; margin-bottom: 6px;\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"sub-title\" style=\"margin: 0; line-height: 1.4;\">Creating Social Value<\/h3>\n<div style=\"height: 2px; background: #666666; margin-top: 6px;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cSK hynix\u2019s collaboration with Autistar has raised awareness of the importance of social value,\u201d said Eun-ho Lee, Technical Leader at SK hynix and leader of the Autistar Partnership. \u201cAbove all, I am grateful for the opportunity to help the socially underprivileged.
