On November 21, 2001, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California granted hynix\u2019s motion for partial summary judgment based on the the claim construction and non-infringement determination made by the District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia in Rambus v. Infineon Technologies. With this ruling, most of Rambus\u2019 patent claims have been dismissed.<\/p>\n
The Northern District of California Court also temporarily stayed the case on the remaining issues, including hynix\u2019s JEDEC related claims, pending the final decision on Rambus\u2019 stay request. The Court said that it was inclined to further postpone the case, subject to certain conditions designed to protect hynix from prejudice, pending resolution of Rambus\u2019 appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit of the case tried in Virginia last spring against Infineon.<\/p>\n
In the Infineon case, the jury decided that Rambus had committed fraud, and Federal Judge Robert Payne ruled that Infineon didn\u2019t infringe the Rambus patents.
