hynix Semiconductor, Inc. (‘hynix’ or ‘the Company’, www.hynix.com) today announced its Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Jong-Kap Kim, Ph. D., as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
As the new Chairman and CEO, Mr. Kim declared the ‘hynix Supremacy’ for the Company’s sustainable growth, and also announced his plan to focus company’s resources on four core management strategies; Knowledge Management, Customer Satisfaction Management, Ethical Management, and Environmental Management.
“I am honored and feel the deepest responsibility to take an important role in this promising company. I will devote my utmost effort so that hynix can take a great leap to become the best semiconductor company.” said Mr. Kim at the inauguration ceremony.
Mr. Kim formerly had served various leading roles in the Korean government for 31 years, including Commissioner of The Korean Intellectual Property Office and Vice Minister of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. He had cooperated with numerous enterprises and also maintained a close relationship with semiconductor industry throughout his government career. He received a Master’s degree in international business from New York University, earned a Master’s degree and became a candidate for doctoral course in economics at Indiana University. He also won a doctoral degree in public administration from Sung Kyun Kwan University in Korea. With his expertise in economics as well as his thorough understanding of the semiconductor industry, he is expected to contribute to the Company’s future growth.
hynix appointed Mr. Kim as a candidate for an Executive Director on 8 March at the Directors’ Meeting, and approved the decision to name him as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at its Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting and Directors’ Meeting on 29 March.
