Seoul, October 26, 2017

SK Hynix Inc. (or ‘the Company’, www.skhynix.com) today announced financial results for its third quarter 2017 ended September 30, 2017. The Company reported once again its record-high quarterly revenue, operating profit, and net income in three successive quarters.

The consolidated third quarter revenue was 8.1 trillion won while the operating profit amounted to 3.74 trillion won and the net income 3.06 trillion won. With continued favorable market conditions during the third quarter, the company actively dealt with the market situation, boosting its revenue and operating profit by 21% and 23% respectively, compared to the previous quarter.

Quarter-over-quarter, DRAM bit shipments increased by 17% and the average selling price by 6%, due to an increase in seasonal demand for mobile products as well as strong demand from the server sector.

For NAND Flash, the bit shipments rose by 16% while the average selling price decreased by 3%. The shipments increased thanks to the launch of new smartphones, but the ASP declined due to increased sales of high-density mobile products.

SK Hynix will place its focus on server and mobile products, which are expected to lead the market demands. The Company also plans to consolidate its position in the memory market with the timely release of high-density and high-end products. Therefore, it will mass produce 1Xnm DRAM in the fourth quarter as planned, and HBM2 products will be supplied in the quarter.

In addition, the Company is to deal with the high-density mobile solution and SSD market with its 72-Layer 3D NAND that will be mass produced in the fourth quarter. SK Hynix plans to mass produce its cutting-edge 512Gb product soon, which it has successfully developed recently, to enter the enterprise SSD market in the next year.
