hynix Semiconductor Inc., (hynix, www.hynix.com) announced on September 22, that it’s 128MB synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) module, was approved by Intel Corporation as the primary memory for the recently launched Brookdale chipset. hynix is the only manufacturer to be approved by Intel for the 128M (16M x 8) SDRAM module, which has become an industry standard in the personal computer (PC) market. Brookdale is the code name for the i845 chipset, which Intel designed to adopt utilizing existing SDRAM technology in its Pentium 4 based platforms. By launching the Brookdale chipset, Intel is anticipated to dramatically expand its market share. This approval from Intel is expected to significantly benefit hynix. hynix announced that it will continue to lead the market with higher density 256MB and 512MB SDRAM modules, validations for which are expected from Intel in the near future.
