Seoul, Korea, October 25, 2000 – Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. (HEI) held its third-quarter board of directors meeting yesterday at the offices of subsidiary Hyundai Electronics America (HEA) in San Jose, California. Among the twelve attendees were the outside directors and chief executives of each business unit. Following a visit to the Hyundai Semiconductor America (HSA) production facilities in Eugene, Oregon on October 23, the board traveled to the San Jose offices of Hyundai Electronics America (HEA) for the directors meeting on October 24. Principle topics of the daylong session included earnings results for the third quarter as well as fourth quarter objectives. The current status of US subsidiaries-including HSA and HEA-was also discussed. Hyundai scheduled this board of directors meeting in the US in order to familiarize new board members-Korea-based outside directors in particular-with the overseas production facility and sales office, thus giving the board a perspective on HEI management world-wide. Hyundai intends to conduct board of directors meetings quarterly, consistent with the company’s open management philosophy.
