– High-end product about 80% as expensive as general 64M Synchronous DRAMs.
– Expected to raise more than $100 million in sales this year.
HEI (Kim Young Hwan, President) started mass production of 64M SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) (2 X 32) with the world’s fastest performing speed. This 64M SDRAM for graphic use with circuit line width of 0.22micron is the world’s fastest DRAM product with performing speed of 200MHz. HEI now supplies samples to world’s leading graphics companies and game machine makers. HEI plans to start mass production from September, and expects to achieve sales of more than $100 million by yearend. 64M SDRAM used for graphics in PCs, multimedia equipment, and game machines is sold at $12-14, more than 80% as expensive as general 64M SDRAM. Supply is short at present while worldwide market demand is expected to grow from 50 million in 1999 to 200 million units in 2000. This 64M SDRAM can process data more effectively than general 64M SDRAM by input and output of 32 bit (X 32) data at once.
