Hyundai Electronics Contracts with Hewlett-Packard For Exclusive Memory Module Supply

– Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. (HEI) has signed a contract with Hewlett-Packard (HP) to exclusively supply HP with memory components. HP recently announced their entrance into the personal computer (PC) market in Korea and HEI, as the world’s largest manufacturer of semiconductors, will solely support HP with memory modules.

Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd. (HEI) has signed a contract with Hewlett-Packard (HP) to exclusively supply HP with memory components. HP recently announced their entrance into the personal computer (PC) market in Korea and HEI, as the world’s largest manufacturer of semiconductors, will solely support HP with memory modules. HP will utilize HEI’s 64MB and 128MB memory modules for its most popular PC models, ‘Pavilion 8821’ and ‘Pavilion 8841/8871′, targeted for the local market. The two companies also agreed that each HP system produced with Hyundai memory will have a label indicating “Powered by HYUNDAI’ This contract will be recorded as a successful joint marketing endeavor between a major PC maker and chip manufacturer. We hope this will be the catalyst for further enhancing a cooperative relationship with HP.” said Mr. Dae Soo Kim, senior vice president, memory sales division, HEI. HP, representing 10% of the world’s desktop market, will receive a secure and consistent memory chip supply as a result of this exclusive contract with HEI. With superb technology, excellent product quality, and additional recognition by a major PC maker, HEI will continue as a main memory supplier to HP since signing a long term supply agreement last year.
